I had been fishing bout 3 hours no bites then my buddies bite alarm went off he caught a 10# channel cat he was bent over releasing the fish next to my rod when my bite alarm went off i had thought he had kicked my rod he was about to pick my rod up and I told him to think about it. i set the hook and 10 minutes later this 56 pounder!

This is my personal best flathead, the flats were really hitting good this day...I ran out of shad and resorted to using a bass head for bait..We caught and lost several other nice fish that day.

This 55 lb'r was the next to last of 9 Blues caught that day, by 3 of us with the biggest of others being 24, 34 and 45lbs. The 45lb'r was being fought as my 55 lb'r first got hooked so we had the two big Blues on at the same time. Jesse had the "boat record" at 45 lbs for all of 5 minutes until I got mine in. Travis did a great job putting us on these fish all day...along with being a great netsman : )

We knew the 55 was a state record (also over 45") but we decided to let her swim away, along with all the others, to keep the Blue catfish population growing and also with the goal of catching a bigger one in the near future.

Fish Tale of the Catch:
We caught close to 300lbs of fish in one night, we were fishing the Meldahl Dam, and we were close enough to where the back of the boat swung around with the current that was going towards the dam. We threw up river towards a real rocky area, and the blue's were in there busting shad in full force. We had atleast 1 fish every 10 minutes for a few hours. The biggest of the night was a 47lb blue, this was 1 of 3 that were in the 36 to 37lb range. What a night!

I was out with BigCatSteve one night over the summer. The bite was good I landed a 9 pound flathead and Steve landed a 8 pound Blue. I tossed a bluegill head out on bottom. It took about a half hour for the Blue to hit, he fought well and was a pain to pick up.

I fought this fish for an hour in heavy current on light tackle. We thought it was a flattie until it got close enough to the boat where we could see It. was released after photo's.

Not a bite all night till about 7:AM. While anchored in 32' of water fishing 4' off the bottom, I finally got my only bite on the live bluegill and landed this 15# channel cat. This is my personal best channel cat on this lake.

The Channel catfish were really hitting good at this time. We had stable weather and the pre-spawn feeding frenzy was on. My son caught his personal best channel catfish the same day.
