Fish Tale of the Catch:I was fishing in Elk Creek on the night of August 13, 2007. We were using whole shad, and baiting with 4-6 shad per hook. I had only caught one other fish last night, a 7 lb bluecat, before this fish hit. It took about 15 minutes to get the fish to shore, and my buddy Blake Jackson got in the water and grabbed him when I got him to shore. I swear, one of these days we'll buy a net....

Fish Tale of the Catch:The big sucker stripped off about 20 yards of line in the current. It got over to the brush on our side of the river twice & we thought the fish was a goner, but each time the fish just moved back out into the current. Initially I had a really hard time getting the fish weighed, because the hook on my scale kept straightening out. Never seen that before. The first weight on the fish was in the high 45# range, and when we actually started taking pictures (should've taken the scale picture first, darnit!!!) the fish started either peeing or puking out water. It was weird. I actually have a picture of it happening. Anyway, it ended up at 42.1 on my little scale.

Fish Tale of the Catch:
We fished a tournament on Saturday 2-23-08. This fish was the second fish of the day. And the second set up spot of the day. The wind picked up out of the east later and the bigger fish quit biting. We were still catching lots of 3 to 5 lber's. ended up in 5th place with about 65 lbs total for 5 fish. Also got beat on big fish by a 42 lber and some change with mine weighing in at 41.4 lbs.

I was fishing around a old rock quary in Grand Lake around 12 ft deep when the big blue hit the SECRET 7 Dip Bait. I had been catching smaller blues and channels most of the day. This catfish took me totaly off guard. It fought hard, and almost got wrapped around the anchor rope 2 times. I landed it after about 5 minutes.

Fish Tale of the Catch:I thought the fishing might be good since the weather had just cooled off by about 15 degrees. I was fishing with two rods and I had no rod holders, so I was holding my nicer, stronger Ambassadeur 6000 combo in my hands, and I stuck the other rod in between the armrest and the seat. I hadn't gotten a bite in the hour I'd been there when the 'other rod' (weaker one, and NOT in my hands) started bending! I yanked it up and set the hook and it was ON! He kept pulling line off, so I would tighten my drag, and he'd pull more line off, finally I tightened my drag all the way down, and was able to bring the fish in. It weighed in at 14lbs 1oz! After getting pictures and video, I released the fish in the water and watched it swim off! I did it! I actually had broken the double digits, and CPRed him too!
